Frequently asked questions

Clear answers before we begin.

CIMS is designed for attorneys and law firms. These answers explain the role, boundaries, and working model.

01Is CIMS Paralegal a law firm?

No. CIMS is an independent remote paralegal support service. It does not provide legal advice, representation, or independent legal opinions.

02Do you work directly with immigration clients?

CIMS works through the supervising attorney or law firm. Any direct client communication must be authorized and structured by the responsible attorney.

03Can CIMS determine whether a client qualifies for relief?

The supervising attorney makes eligibility and legal determinations. CIMS can analyze the record, organize facts and timelines, identify inconsistencies, and recommend a factual or operational development path for the attorney’s evaluation.

04What matters do you support?

CIMS primarily supports asylum, VAWA, U and T matters, SIJS, waivers, adjustment, employment authorization, FOIA requests, and related humanitarian or family-based work.

05Can you prepare a complete case package?

Depending on scope, support may include declarations, forms, addenda, evidence indexes, cover-letter sections, quality control, and digital filing preparation.

06Do you provide certified translations?

No. CIMS offers Spanish-native factual development and bilingual internal case support, but does not market certified translation services. The firm should select a qualified provider when certification is required.

07Can you work with our templates and systems?

Yes. Firms may choose CIMS Portal, our own Case Management System. Alternatively, CIMS can work within the firm’s approved systems, including Docketwise, Clio Manage, MyCase, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and Adobe Acrobat.

08Can CIMS learn additional case types?

Yes. CIMS is open to structured training and onboarding for additional immigration case types that fit the requesting firm’s procedures, supervision model, and quality standards.

09How are assignments priced?

Engagements are discussed according to scope, volume, complexity, turnaround, and the firm’s preferred working model. Prices are not published on this website.

10Can you handle urgent assignments?

Urgent work may be accepted depending on availability, assignment size, record completeness, and the requested deadline.

11How do you protect confidential information?

CIMS is prepared to execute written confidentiality, non-disclosure, and data-handling terms aligned with the supervising firm’s requirements and applicable professional obligations. Work is performed through access-controlled systems approved by the firm; confidential case details should not be submitted through the public website.
